FAQ

What is the ORT adult Speed & Performance program?
It’s a training program structured around fitness, speed and performance with an nutritional component.  The program layout is in the form of training cycles involving assessments, training, and reassessments.  The program is billed on a month by month basis, a complete progressive training cycle is 6 weeks.

How long should I train within an ORT program?
It depends on your goals and preexisting fitness activities.

Novice-intermediate participants may use our program long-term as an alternative way to decrease body fat while also developing and improving athleticism.

Competitive-Experienced athletes of various disciplines may use our program short-term, benefiting from the speed and performance aspects of our program as a means to address training imbalances, overcome plateaus, or just for off-season.

Can I join the adult speed & performance training group anytime?
Yes.   However, you must meet the requirement running pace of a 10min mile or faster.  Please note that we are currently working on adding beginner workout groups to our schedule, so beginners, please contact us.

What is OTA week?
O.T.A stands for Orientation, Testing, and Assessments.  OTA week is a free week for new and current ORT  athletes that occurs every 4 weeks.  It involves endurance, speed, agility, strength, and power testing as well as optional body fat and body weight testing in our indoor and outdoor facilities.  OTAs last for one week to accommodate busy schedules.

Why 6 week training cycles?
We implement a scaled down periodization schedule because it takes at LEAST 6-8 weeks for the neuromuscular, and muscular system adaptation process to take place.  Speed, agility, speed specific strength and power  are very complex skills that takes time to develop and enhance.  Periodized training minimizes injury as well as maximizes results and performance.  Plus progressive implementation better reinforces a lifestyle change.

I’m not a fast runner, why do I need speed training?
You don’t need to be fast to benefit from speed training.  Speed training is used to enhance almost every sport and is also a great way to overcome weight loss and performance plateaus.  We use speed and performance training methods as a means to develop and enhance fitness.

Is the Speed & Performance Group a boot camp?
Boot Camps, Cross-fit, and other cross-training groups are great, but they implement random exercises to achieve fitness.  We specialize in Speed & Performance and use it as a means to achieve and enhance fitness.  Our exercises aren’t random, every movement you do in our training group is with the  specific purpose of developing and improving Speed and Performance. If you’re a true beginner we highly suggest personal training and boot camps to get you going!

What do I need to bring to a training group?

  1. Low/zero sugar recovery drink.
  2. Sports watch with chronograph and back-light.
  3. Weight training gloves and exercise mat.
  4. ORT Training Equipment. (Optional)
