Meet some of the best coaches/trainers in Texas.  ORT recruits coaches/trainers who have done and STILL DO at elite levels.  They’re all educated professionals who are very good at doing what ORT does, and that’s getting results.  If you’re interested in private training, please feel free to contact them via email links below.

 

Strength & Conditioning Coach:  Derrick White

 

Derrick White is an active duty U.S. Marine Sergeant from Beaumont, Texas.  He has established work out regimens to keep fellow marines within body fat percentage regulation.  In addition, he has trained post-partum marines to help them return to Marine Corps standards.  Derrick’s passion to keep his fellow marines in the best possible shape prompted his command to enroll him in SemperFit classes, which further educated him on how to successfully cater to a variety of fitness goals.  Derrick has led and organized over 200 training sessions which highlighted his expertise in: cross-training, strength and endurance, plyometric exercise, military drills, and weight training.

Speed & Conditioning Coach:  Sarah Boyd

Sarah is a USA Track & Field level I coach.  She competes locally and nationally in Masters Track & Field.  Sarah’s goal is to achieve a top 10 national ranking each year in her age group in the events she regularly competes in, which are the 400m, 200m, 100m, long jump and triple jump.  She has previously won the National Championship in the long jump and triple jump in Masters competition.  Sarah competed for the University of Colorado at Boulder track and field team in the long jump and triple jump and was an academic scholarship recipient at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, where she received her Master in Business Administration degree.

Sarah works with adults and children, improving speed, power, strength, general fitness, mobility and coordination among her clients.  She volunteers as a youth coach at the Town Lake Y and in other capacities with local youth-oriented

Combat/Strength & Conditioning Coach:  Josh

 

Josh has become a Featured League fighter for The King Of Kombat out of Austin, coming off two recent impressive wins for the promotion, a devastating second round knockout due to knees and a three round war that earned him  and Best Fight Of The Night honors and Best Fight for the State of Texas for 2010.  He was recruited as sparring partner for WEC contender Kamal Shalorous, Strikeforce top ranked middleweight Tim Kennedy, UFC and Strikeforce vet Paul Buentello, and IFL, Bellator, and Dream vet Shad Lierley.   Joshua has recently traveled to Thailand and Australia to train with the best in order to continue to be the best.
Scales got his first taste of combat at Pan Am Boxing in East Austin in 2004 at the age of 17. After boxing for six months, his family made the move to North Austin to the Anderson Mill area, and he was forced to look to other sports for a while until LA Boxing opened in his neighborhood. He went to work for the gym selling memberships and it was during this time that he met his future coach/mentor Chris “Head Trauma” Tramell, original member of Team Couture, Las Vegas and 15 year veteran of MMA. Scales began his foray into hardcore MMA training the tough way by sparring daily with these two experienced light heavyweights while working at a weight of 155. Due to his work ethic and lack of fear in training his skill level progressed dramatically in a very short period of time and he made the decision to go professional.

Strength & Conditioning Coach: Jodie McGarity Jr.

Coach Jodie

Jodie McGarity Jr., a 35 year old native of San Antonio, TX, grew up in a rough neighborhood filled with drugs and violent crimes. Jodie will tell you that he’s not a flashy Jordan-like player; he just gets the job done. As an undersized small/power forward (6 feet 6 inches), Jodie has powered his way to the professional level of basketball, both as a player and a coach.

Speed & Conditioning Coach:  David Braswell


Coach David is a current competitive sprinter and has coached speed & speed endurance with youth and elite athletes since 2001.  He’s a former Security Forces U.S Marine with experience in training military personnel as a combat instructor during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Speed & Conditioning Coach:  Terrance Simms

Terrance is current competitive athlete and a former professional football player who worked as a consultant
for RRISD doing sports training with youth ages 5-12.  Terrance conducts weekly sports camps at the Phoenix House, the nations largest non-profit organization for Substance Abuse Treatment.

Some of his clients are high school and collegiate athletes as well.  If you want to gain an edge on the competition or maintain a great fitness level, he’s your guy.  His prices are very reasonable. He has pricing for “one session at a time” basis and discounted “multi-session” packages.

 Olympic Lifting Coach: Abby Ruston

Abby Ruston has had one clear vision since the age of five; to be an Olympian. At that early age, she did not know how she would get there; she only knew she was born to be there. At age nine, she picked up her first shot on a whim. Abby quickly learned that she had a talent for this event as well as an ever growing passion for it. She has never looked back since that day and has continued to pursue her Olympic dreams in the sport of track and field, achieving some major accomplishments over the years.  Abby became the first female to throw 50 feet in the shot put while competing for Texas A&M University. She went on to become a two-time NCAA All-American while completing her graduate degree at Texas State University. She also had the honor of representing the USA in the IAAF World Indoor Championships in the spring of 2008.
